Telecom Cook Islands CEO travels to Rome, Italy
04.10.2012
Telecom’s CEO Jules Maher is flying to Rome this weekend to attend an O3b “Analysts Day” event on 10th October. He will make a presentation to the leading analysts from the satellite industry about why Telecom Cook Islands chose O3b’s fast internet service and the big differences this will make to life in the Cook Islands.
While there he will visit the factory where the satellites have been built and get the latest news on progress towards commencement of the O3b fast internet service in July 2013.
Finally, Jules expects to sign an amended contract with O3b which will bring even greater benefits to the Cook Islands. O3b has generously offered to accelerate the supply of four terminals for the Southern Group of islands so they can be installed before July. This means Telecom can plan to deliver fast, affordable internet services to the whole Southern Group at the same time as Rarotonga in only 10 months time!
The Northern Group will also benefit because Telecom will re-direct the geostationary satellite capacity currently used in the Southern Group, to the Northern Group, making their internet service much better too.
Other attractive O3b proposals will also be negotiated while Jules is in Rome and, if agreed, will result in even better service and pricing for customers in 2013.
Maher said he is extremely excited about these new developments in the already very positive relationship with O3b and will report back on the results of his trip when he returns on 15th October.
